Cliffwood Heights Homes and Real Estate

Cliffwood Heights Perched Above the Pacific in Scenic Setting

Capitola is a small city that lies just south of Santa Cruz.  It can be divided into a number of smaller neighborhoods such as Cliffwood Heights and is  between New Brighton State Beach and Capitola Village which is the downtown area of Capitola filled with specialty shops, art galleries, and restaurants.  Cliffwood Heights is bordered by Park Ave. and Monterey Ave.  The quiet, wide streets are lined with trees giving the place a distinctively suburban feel.  Most of the homes here were built in the 60’s and 70’s on land that once comprised the Capitola Airport.

Cliffwood Heights is conveniently located and residents can walk to New Brighton State Beach and Capitola Village, perhaps to pick up some delectables from Gayle’s Bakery.  Parents with school age children will be glad to know that New Brighton Middle School is also within walking distance.  This well regarded educational facility is known for academic excellence.  Students here consistently score in the upper levels on statewide achievement tests.  The neighborhood also contains a community park.

Compared to such other Capitola neighborhoods as Depot Hill and the Jewel Box, Cliffwood Heights generally has more affordably priced housing. Homes here are spacious and generally contain 3 or more bedrooms and are set on generous lots that afford room for gardening or pools.

A Neighborhood That Makes You Feel at Home

While single family homes are the predominant form of housing in Cliffwood Heights, the area also contains a number of condos.  Many of these feature spectacular ocean views.  These will be found on Park Ave. or on Balboa St.

Capitola is a neighborly town with many community events such as Capitola Wednesday Night Concerts, the Begonia Festival, and the Capitola Art and Wine Festival.

There are 768 households in Cliffwood Heights. The population of Cliffwood Heights is 1,643. Half of the residents have lived in their homes for 4 or more years and 43% for over 5 years.

81% of the population here has white collar jobs while 19% work in blue collar jobs.  People spend an average of 20 minutes commuting to work with most people driving to get there.

The weather ranges from highs of 61 degrees in January to 79 degrees in July.  The area receives an average of 35 inches of rain a year.

Cliffwood Heights is close to Highway1 and 26 miles from San Jose International Airport.  The city of San Francisco is about a two hour drive to the north.

The Santa Cruz region is a scenic setting with beautiful beaches and magnificent forests of Coast Redwoods.  Several parks have been established in the region to preserve these ancient monarchs that are the tallest trees in the world.  The county is also home to the University of California at Santa Cruz.  The campus is spread out among forests and meadows in the hills above the city.  College of the Redwoods is a community college located close to Cliffwood Heights.
