Watsonville and its surrounding Pajaro Valley make for both desirable real estate and rich agricultural land.
Watsonville real estate offers a wide variety of lifestyle opportunities from historic Old Town homes to established neighborhoods to the new development in subdivisions throughout the valley and around Pinto Lake.
Watsonville offers boating, birdwatching, beaches and hiking on trails throughout the Watsonville Wetlands in the nearby sloughs. The City provides many parks, including a skate park, indoor soccer field, lake with boat rentals, BBQ areas, soccer fields, tennis courts and volleyball courts.
The Pajaro River Levee Trail Park provides access to the Pajaro River and its tributaries. Levee trails along the river are popular with walkers, runners and bikers. For water enthusiasts, Pinto Lake features two parks which offer a small craft launch ramp, group picnic areas, RV park, children’s playground and boat rentals.
Originally a part of the Rancho Bolsa del Pajaro Mexican land grant made to Sebastian Rodríguez in 1837, Watsonville was developed by Judge John H. Watson and D. S. Gregory in 1852 and incorporated in 1868. Historic Watsonville features a number of houses and commercial buildings designed by the famous Victorian Era architect, William Weeks. The larger buildings that line Main Street were constructed in the late 1800′s and early 1900′s and provide the Old Town Watsonville with its traditional, old-fashioned charm.
