Originally a part of the Rancho Bolsa del Pajaro Mexican land grant made to Sebastian Rodríguez in 1837, Watsonville was developed by Judge John H. Watson and D. S. Gregory in 1852 and incorporated in 1868. Historic Watsonville features a number of houses and commercial buildings designed by the famous Victorian Era architect, William Weeks. The larger buildings that line Main Street were constructed in the late 1800′s and early 1900′s and provide the Old Town Watsonville with its traditional, old-fashioned charm.
